I Want To Make Mini Movies..? What Camera/Editing Program Would You Suggest?

Heres my thing. I'm surrounded by this class. It's a class where we craft a weekly news show for the university with segment like sports, weather, rovings, interviews, etc. I'm really enjoy the class and would like to get my own movies with my friends. I guess sort of approaching the JKL productions short videos and such.
I enjoy no idea what description of camera or movie editing system I should ask for, for Christmas.
I definitly don't want one where you enjoy to use a tape. We use those on our show, and sometimes when transfering them onto the computer, they become fuzzy. And I'm trying to stay contained by a price range to in the region of $200-$300. I've heard something almost a Mini DV camcorder. What's the difference between this and a regular camcorder.
Next, the editing system. Again. Price range. Around 100$ perchance? But can I get a dutiful one with that budget? And I also wouldn't mind something that's not to easier said than done to learn. I'm a wiz at using the apple editing system that comes beside the computer, but I kind of want more -c-


Answers:    You can simply use Windows Movie Maker for simple things,but if u want better ones ,go to google and type one surrounded by.
