You do need a firewire nouns, not sure about how you procure one for a laptop. With a desktop you buy the firewire card and install it. I'm not sure if they make an external firewire card. You also stipulation a firewire (ieee1394) cord. Video will not download via a USB connection. Google firewire (ieee1394). I don't consider it should cost 600.00 that doesn't sound right.
