Film v Digital Video?

I'm looking to make a honestly low-budget but feature length motion picture, but I can't seem to find a honourable resource to shed some light on the differences between shooting motion picture and digital videos.

Which camera would be cheaper to rent?
Which one is easier to operate?
Which one works better surrounded by post-production?
Which one ends up looking more professional?

Thank you!

Answers:    Digital is way easier to operate, but doesn't look as worthy as film. Even HD can't do some of the things Film can. Digital have a smaller latitude of light contrast ratio, you can't do slow motion, shallow depth of grazing land is nearly impossible to achieve, and overexposure looks horrible. Film is expensive. super 8, or 16mm, as opposing 35mm, would be a good cheap choice; however it have a grainy look to it, and can carry pretty expensive to develop, and digitize. Digital or HD has a nice clear picture, but it doesn't hold that film look to it, you can other shoot at 24fps to mimic the look of film. And you can other add show grain surrounded by post. Digital can be cheaper, but to achieve some of the things, that you can do surrounded by film similar to overexposure or slow-motion can be time consuming, and it won't even look as good. One benefit to digital is you can shoot over and over again, and you have an impression of what the end result will look similar to if you have a veiwfinder(not to be confused next to the little LCD screen). Film is the superior medium though. It is more professional. Look at Domino, or Man on Fire. Those films by Tony Scott be shot on Reversal film, and cross processed beside negative show chemicals, that's how he achieved the look those films have, you couldn't do that with digital, you can do it surrounded by post, but it'll be far too expensive to do in post, unless you do it yourself on After Effects, but that'll transport forever. Other movies on film are The Dark Knight, SW episode 1, Deja Vu, Casino Royale. Here are some on HD, Superman Returns, SW 2,3, Crank, Scary Movie 4. Miami Vice. Don't verbs HD with HDDV, or Digital any. Please respond too, don't leave me baggy. I go to university for this stuff, not a cheap school any I paid $60,000.
Film is too expensive for a low budget production. You might be better sour hiring a freelance videographer or an aspiring film student. They come beside their own equipment and they know how to properly operate it. This will free you up to direct and produce your flick.

Most popular low end indy choice is the Canon XL2.
