Best MiniDV Camcorder next to Mic Input Jack?

* price surrounded by the $300-700 range
It seem really hard to find something current that have a microphone input. We are using this for interviews, so the sound characteristic is important and have a mic input seems to be the best instrument to cover this base.

Answers: Any gain to the point of the interview provided by the ext mic will be lost if you use an on-camera light and electronic IS. A street lamp on the camera is bad for two reason. first it will give the interviewee the "deer surrounded by the headlights" look, not very complimentary. Second it will draw so much power past its sell-by date the battery that it will define your shooting time between battery charges to a few minutes. Get a plug surrounded by floor lamp from Wal-mart or a campers lantern if you are mobile. The approach to stabilize the camera is with a tripod, next you can walk away from the camera and be capable of hold that ext mic you feel is so historic. Unless you are interviewing professional media types, they won't be comfortable holding a mic.
