Can anybody direct me to a supplier that sell hardware that processes 8mm motion picture to my computer for DVD?
Answers: The cheap do-it-yourself kits work, but not completely well. Basically they hand over you a box with a 8mm show projector and a small screen, and you aim your camcorder at the eyeshade. You'll get a picture, but next to a lot of flickering, small piece, and other undesireable effects due to the differences in picture and video frame rate. If you have any show that has faded or have bad color set off (from using daylight film indoors or vice versa), you won't be capable of correct it much if any at all. It will be up to you to bowdlerize and process the video. If you have a ton of picture and want it converted as cheaply as possible, and you already own a high characteristic camcorder with biddable manual controls, and you enjoy lots of spare time to play around with a range of methods and learn to use editing software, consequently this might be an acceptable prospect for you.
A better quality picking is to send your picture off to a lab or company that specializes within this kind of work. The fitting ones use special equipment that syncs the film and video shutters together, or even scan the film frame by frame, and consequently a pro operator will adjust things close to white balance and brightness to win the best picture, and they will edit out the leaders and any unsalvagable parts, in your favour you a ton of time and effort. If you don't enjoy that much film, it will be cheaper than buying a crappy do-it-yourself domestic device too.
If you have a LOT of show (tens of thousands of feet) and need the best power, you might be able to afford one of the better telecine verbs machines or a dedicated step frame scanner, but for a few hundred foot you'll almost definitely seize better and cheaper results by sending it to a lab.
Edit P.S.: By the way, the previous answer have a link that mentions "8mm motion picture transfer" but if you read carefully you'll see its simply software for 8mm VIDEO TAPE to DVD transfer. That site is using the wrong argot, so make sure you don't verbs 8mm/Super8 FILM for Video8/Hi8 TAPES as they are completely different!
