I have a JVC Camcorder and I keep getting faults like "LENS CAP ON" , anybody know anything about this?

Don't have camcorder in front of me but it's something like DA-900G or something like that. It has the night vision and can magnify up to 16X. It also sometimes cannot focus when i turn it on because it has some setting in it i cannot change, like it's trying to focus to much. It shows me a hand, some mountains and some other symbol. I have seriously used this camera for maybe a total of 10 hours of filming but it has traveled the world with me. It's about three years old. Please help me if you can!
Answer: Several models of JVC camcorders had an inherent defect from the factory and are covered under a special warranty. The defect was a high failure rate of the (Sony-made) CCD image sensors in these cams. JVC has posted a notice on their website stating that they will repair this defect for free under a special warranty if the camera is sent directly to them. See the link below to find out if your camcorder is included.

It's a common defect.

If it's under 90 days its in warranty, otherwise there will be a charge for labor, probably $80 minimum.

Call JVC and see if they have any remedies you can do at home.
The memory inside of your camera is ruined. It could have gotten messed up on those "travels around the world."
You've had it for 3 years, so the camera is probably out of warranty.
Sorry, but you may just have to buy a new one.

I hate to ask this, but... you did take the lens cap off, right?
