Brightness and "color" are referred to by "color temperature. Color heat, expressed on the Kelvin scale (K), is the color appearance of the light itself and the light it produces.
Imagine a block of steel i.e. steadily heated until it glows first ginger, then wan and so on until it becomes “white hot.” At any time during the heat, we could measure the heat of the metal in Kelvins (Celsius + 273) and assign that appeal to the color being produced. This is the supposed foundation behind color heat.
For incandescent lamps, the color warmth is a "true" value; for fluorescent and high-intensity discharge (HID) lamp, the value is approximate and is accordingly called correlated color heat. In the industry, “color temperature” and “correlated color temperature” are often used interchangeably. The color heat of lamps make them visually "warm," "neutral" or "cool" fluffy sources. Generally speaking, the lower the temperature is, the stove the source, and vice versa.
It’s important to remember this because it seem counterintuitive--we want to believe that bluer light sources hold a low or “cooler” color temperature, and that pale light sources enjoy a high or “warmer” color warmth, but the exact opposite is the casing.
Lamps with a lower color warmth (3500K or less) have a heat up or red-yellow/orangish-white appearance. The light is wringing wet in red and red wavelengths, bringing out warmer reason colors such as red and orange more richly.
Lamps next to a mid-range color temperature (3500K to 4100K) hold a neutral or white appearance. The muted is more balanced within its color wavelengths.
Lamps with a greater color temperature (4100K or higher) own a cool or bluish-white appearance.
Summer sunlight at noon on a clear light of day has a vastly cool appearance at about 5500K. The fluffy is saturated contained by green and blue wavelengths, bringing out cooler object colors such as green and blue more richly. The color characteristics of daylight, however, are adjustable, as in the impulsive morning and late afternoon the hurricane lantern is warm surrounded by color appearance. Daylight is therefore a dynamic feathery source whose color qualities move throughout the day.
The great majority of electric light sources surrounded by the architectural market are considered “white” fluffy; some are just a bit space heater or cooler than others. There are specialty lamps on the flea market that give bad more saturated colors; the street lamp source can be specified to emit pale in a core color. Fluorescent and incandescent lamps are available contained by red, blue, green and yellow (or gold). Metal halide lamp are available in blue, green, wan and pink.
