I need help converting NTSC to PAL?

I bought a camcorder in th US, it is NTSC. But in Ireland our system is PAL. When i first connected the leads into my tv it was in black and white. i then bought a converter on Ebay but this just enabled me to see the picture on tv in color. when i try to record on my vhs recorder the picture seems to drag and the sound isnt right.
So now im wondering if i should buy a dvd recorder that is NTSC/PAl compatible? Is there even such a thing? Would this allow me to record properly??
Answers: Converter boxes aren't really reliable, which you've discovered on your own.

Look for a company called CyberHome. They make VCRs that convert from PAL to NTSC (and vice-versa). You need only hook up your camcorder to the CyberHome VCR and record using the proper settings. I got one about a year ago (I have a lot of videotapes from Germany). The VCR only cost me about $100 from Best Buy - and it's already paid for itself. Once I convert my videos to NTSC, I burn that tape onto DVD for archival purposes.

There are multi-region DVD recorders out there, but they are VERY expensive.

Good luck!

Other answers: Not sure how to fix your particular issue but there are many DVD machines that are multi-system (PAL, NTSC, etc). You can find them in Europe and the Middle East.

If I were you I would sell the camcorder to someone in the US (ebay?) and then buy a PAL one compatible for where you live.
