Best Camcorder?
I want it to be pretty nice, but I do not know what to look for and I do not want to get ripped sour. I don't want the most expensive or the least expensive.
I want it to be capable of hook up to our computer via USB and I want to be able to burn DVDs of the footage we register.
Can someone lead me contained by the right direction or tell me what features to look for?
Answers: Since one of your requirements is "want it to be capable of hook up to our computer via USB" you are locked into a hard drive base or flash-memory based camcorders.
Using the Canon ZR800 ($300) as the low-end and the Sony HDR-FX7 ($3,000) as the dignified end, let see what you should be looking at around $1000:
Sony HDR-SR5, HDR-SR10, HDR-SR7
Canon HF10, HG10
Panasonic SDR-H200 (standard definition only)
Too bad you are not likely to use firewire to transfer miniDV video based video - it continues to appropriation with the most minuscule compression and offers the best available video feature... oh well...
DO NOT obtain a DVD based camcorder. Too much compression and video ability, especially for editing, will be bad. DO NOT obtain a DVD based camcorder. Too much compression and video level, especially for editing, will be bad. DO NOT find a DVD based camcorder. Too much compression and video trait, especially for editing, will be bad.
Did I mention DO NOT get hold of a DVD based camcorder? Too much compression and video talent, especially for editing, will be bad.
Also consider getting a extra rechargeable battery-operated - no camcorder comes with a "good" on surrounded by the box. Get a sturdy case to protect your investment (I approaching Pelican cases), tripod or monopod, a video light (Bescor make good ones), and LOTS of blank DVDs (single branch and double layer)... maybe even a firm drive for the computer - to be used ONLY for video projects. Video uses a LOT of hard drive space.
Look into sony. They hold been by far the best products I own ever owned. I have a 56 inch tv, a 27 inch tv, a sony cyber shot digital camera, and plan to buy the sony dvd camcorder this weekend. My best friend and sister hold the same camcorder and they love it! Just google reviews and see what other consumers enjoy to say...Good Luck!
