I briefly looked into DVD camcorders, and decided to step with an HDD camcorder instead. The central download for DVD camcorders is the limited cassette time per mini DVD. The HDR-UX7 records to AVCHD format - so, you would requirement a fairly high-power computer system to cut the videos...also, the DVD would not play within regular set-top DVD players or HD-DVD players. You would need a Blu-Ray Disc player or a PS3 (Playstation 3) within order to playback the video.
