Camera minister to!?

i recently recieved a tentative camcorder and made a few videos and uploaded them to my computer but when i step to play them it says Codec Required and one and only plays the sound. whats a codec? and is at hand anyway i can fix that?
PLEASE HELP!!

Answers:    A codec is a 'coder/decoder'. It's a sort of software 'driver' that can decode the movies your camera took.

Read the almanac that came next to the camera. I'm guessing the codec came on a disc with the camera or can slickly be downloaded from the Internet.

Failing that, download the VLC player. VLC Player is a free media bystander that can play just just about anything. Get it here:

hi,
a codec is like an add-in that allows other devices to read undisputed files. Depending on what type of video camera you have it could be quicktime or divx...or anything

Firstly try to download DivX, and then try to play the directory and if that doesnt work that Apple's Quicktime player should. Also try Xvid

Please reply with the camera type and model :)
