Are all USB cords pretty much global or is there different sizes? Because i own a camcorder and a digital camera (both canon) and i dont have the usb cable for the camcorder but the one for the camera fits the slot, but when i try to use it it say no camera is detected... could it be because it's not the right usb cord or is something else wrong?

USB cables are adjectives the same. If the plug fits the socket, it's compatible. Perhaps your computer is missing a driver for your camcorder.
