What should I be looking for within terms of functions? Do you enjoy any recommendations?
Answers: Make sure you draw from a hard drive camcorder.No messing almost with disks that can achieve damaged or worrying just about formatting.
Sony, Canon and JVC do great camcorders.
Look for a firewire port on the laptop to connect - sony calls it i.Link, some others christen it IEEE1394
Simple is better. You won't use most of the fancy stuff

1. A nice camera more for a professional a GL2 would be great. They run about 2500 depending on the set. If you are looking for a cheaper camera that still have great quality budge with a Cannon zr200 or zr500 they run anywhere from 300-500 depending on where on earth you buy it.
2. If you have a mac next you would want to make sure you enjoy a firewire that hooks up to your mac (apple.com) Same goes for notebook but you can find those at best buy or any other electronics place usually. Fire wire cable usually run about 30 dollars. When buying one MAKE SURE YOU BUY ONE WITH THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF PINS!!

I have baby girl and brought Panasonic PV-GS 320 Mini DV (small tapes) camcorder. Why? 3CCD what Professional use. In short occupancy better color. You have the capacity to add 5 hr battery-operated form ebay for about $20. I don't know if this is true for sony camcorder.
Buy store warranty 2 yrs of 4 yrs, you'll thank me for it. Manfacturer warranty is not worth much.
People enunciate Panasonic camcorder aren't very moral in dim lantern. If your shooting in your house freshly add illustrious wattage bulb (coil white light).

The othe camcorder I be thinking about be Sony Handycam DCR-HC 96. Mini DV Digital camcorder. I don't know if they still sell the but. I thing they are better surrounded by dim light and it have addition of Mic jack which Panasonic PV-GS 320 does not enjoy.
People say Mini DV tape have better feature because they are in AVI record and has to be converted within Mpeg file. Only article is it time consuming.
If you have the money I hear Canon HV-20 is well-mannered camcorder.
Get either a Sony or a Canon. Those are the best. If you are looking for top aspect, then capture the Hard drive HD camcorders or the HD Mini DV. If you are looking for a descent price, try buying the just the regular Mini DVs or the DVD camcorders. Hope I help!
