How do you set up a nondigital camcorder to the computer?
Answers: Hi there. This is Dustin Gardener.
The means of access I see it, you have 2 option here.
a) Figure out how to hook it up to your computer
b) Do linear editing on it with a VCR.
If you jump the (a) route, you're going to need to hold a digital interface between your camcorder and computer that will convert the signal from your camera into something that your editing program in the computer can make out. You'll have to buy this.
Here's an example of one by Dazzle for lower than 16 bucks on eBay

Then you'd simply plug the camcorder into the dazzle interface and your computer would see it as digital and you could import the footage and stifle.
Route (b) means you'll enjoy to plug the camcorder into a VCR, and manually playback the camcorder and hit record on a blank VHS video whenever you find the pieces you want to edit contained by next. This is call linear editing because you're editing in a straight dash. You cannot decide at the close of the project that you want to go wager on and change the establishment. You'd have to start adjectives over again. But it could work if you have no money, or hold no time to go out and catch a Dazzle interface.
Hope that helps!
