My Samsung MiniDV does not own a firewire socket. How do I d/l the tape onto my Mac? It individual have a miniUSB.?

Answers:    Perhaps your camcorder calls it DV?

Any of the following name mean exactly impossible to tell apart thing:

FireWire
iLink (Sony's describe for it)
DV
IEEE1394

Furthermore, the Firewire port on your camera is likely a 4-pin port, while the one on your Mac is credible a 6-pin port (though maybe 4 if you're using a MacBook).

Give the camera another look, and if you can't find it, donate us a specific model number for your camcorder, and I'll see what I can dig up for you. My guess is that you simply might not enjoy found the DV port yet.

If it's a 4-pin port on your camera, but a 6-pin port on your Mac, gross sure you have the appropriate cable for this.

Hope this help!

Without a firewire nouns, you can't. iMovie only recognize FW connections.
