Video Shoot: Firestore or Adobe OnLocation CS3??

I'm switching my shooting strategy to capturing direct to Harddisk while I shoot on location.

Should I run with a Firestore FS1, Adobe OnLocation CS3 or another interface/hard device/software setup??

Additionally, I be thinking of getting the fastest, best External HD (with limited space) and afterwards Investing more into a HD for Storage and editing purposes. That way I appropriation FAST/QUALITY and later dump the footage to a drive that have MORE storage, but less part (and thereby possibly eliminate dropped frames, etc).

Any thoughts? Thanks

Answers:    Well, if the camera is stationary and you enjoy access to power outlets and you already have a suitable laptop, OnLocation would be more economical. If the camera have to move around or run on battery power, later the Firestore would be more flexible.

Generally, larger capacity easier said than done discs are faster than smaller ones. The data is swarming more densely and each revolution of the platter deliver more data to the head. So its a bit odd to feel in lingo of "fast but restricted space" and "slow but more storage," as this rarely occur in the genuine world these days.

DV and HDV are simply 3.5MB/s, and even the biggest format you'd likely be using is DVCPRO-HD at 12MB/s, but modern unyielding drives are generally surrounded by the 60MB/s+ write range. You don't enjoy to worry roughly speaking disc speed unless you want to capture uncompressed HD.
