What/Where is a Firewire?

I asked a previous question in the order of camcorders, and a few people said i needed a firewire. what is this? my computer is a dell window XP. does anyone know if this computer comes with a firewire port or where on earth it is located or what it is?

Answers:    No, what you call for are drivers if the camera is not syncing with your notebook. Type in the company identify of your camera followed by the model then the word "drivers" within your search engine. Firmware updates can be done as ably and usually available on your companies website under the support/download nouns. If its not there, do impossible to tell apart above except instead of drivers type firmware. Be wary, if you mess it up or lose power while updating firmware you could destroy your machine. Remember your camera have to be connected to your pc and functioning to do a firmware update.
