Megapixels report to us how many millions of pixels (colored dots) are represented within a single image. So a photo taken on an 8 megapixel camera have about 8 million pixels. Most photo cameras now vary anywhere from 6 or 7 up to 11 or 12 (depending on how much you want to spend, etc).
However, a camcorder works differently. A standard definition camcorder will other shoot video 720 pixels wide and 480 high-ranking (in North America), or about 345,600 pixels. 720 x 480 is the resolution of a standard definition box, so that's all a camcorder wants to worry roughly. High definition goes adjectives the way up to 1920 x 1080, or roughly speaking 2 megapixels per frame.
Keep in mind that camcorders are usually capture 30 of these frames per second. It's hard on the camcorder to be in charge of all these pictures even at this low resolution, so it's one and only going to shoot as many pixels as it wishes.
Now most camcorders come with a photo function. It uses the lens and other functions within the camera to take a picture on to another memory card. Since the camera is individual really designed to take a small picture (720x480 for SD), you're getting a pretty flawless picture out of it if it's 1 megapixel!

i enjoy sony camcorder and it has a 4 megapixel censor some camcorders accomplish 7 megapixels just turn out the bad piece is that they cosdt alot more than any regular camcorder which you have hear from any person
