I use the Panasonic SDR-H18. Its not too expensive and it does the work. Also it depends what you are using it for. This should be angelic for everyday use.

There is not much practical difference between camcorders that are designed for like peas in a pod purpose. So, just settle on what you want to do with it (record birthday party vs. make a portion film) and then wish the FEATURES that serve you the best. Skip all the scientific BS and just expect about the result you are in truth trying to achieve (conveniently capture family events vs. superior commercial production).
And if you can try out the camcorder hands-on before buying, or conceivably get recommendation from friends that have similar camcorder desires, then by adjectives means, do that first.
Remember: Any camcorder (to occupation family events) is better than no camcorder at adjectives, and you can always trade up after that.

it is not a dumb question.minidv would b a better choice coz of the advantages of picture resolution , CD length n price.
