How would you bowdlerize a mini dv using final cut ?
Answers: Take your miniDV camcorder, put it in "play" or "vtr" mode, not "camera" mode, turn it on, and connect a firewire cable from it to your Mac. (if your camcorder have a USB connector, this is only for still pictures and will not work for transferring video.) Next, start up Final Cut Pro (FCP), and select File>Log and Capture. The log and seizure window will friendly, and you should see a small "VTR OK" beneath the play/stop/ff/rew buttons in the log and seizure window. If you see "not threaded" or "no communication", check your connector cable, and gross sure the tape is surrounded by the camcorder and the camcorder is in playback mode.
You invasion clips from the tape by first naming the clip contained by the description box (not the "name" box), playing the tape using the playback buttons on the camcorder or within the log and capture glass. (you can also use the keyboard "j" "k" and "L" buttons - reverse, stop, play to move through the cassette.) when you get to the quantity you want to capture, play the cassette and click the Capture "NOW" button. A new skylight will pop up saying "Now capture press 'esc' to stop" . When you get to the ending of the clip you want to capture, hit the escape (esc) knob in the upper departed corner of your keyboard. The capture clip should now appear within your browser window, consequence you can use it in your cut project. (summary: 4 steps - 1. Name the clip, 2. Play the clip, 3. Capture "NOW", and 4. press "esc")
