Basic camcorder, any recommendation?

I'm looking to buy a cheap and basic camcorder but I don't want to buy one and find out the element is rubbish so I wondered if anyone had any guidance on brands, or even brands to avoid. Also what's the difference between SD, DV and DVD?

Answers:    Depends on what you want to do. For just webcam, short video clips & pics those little $15. ones from Walmarts will do. For making video I bought my son a kid's camera on sell at Penneys for $30 and it even have a viewing screen & can bring up to a 512 SD memory card.

A good place to check things out is http://ecamera.com Besides have alot of info online they have an 800 number. I told them what I needed it to do and as cheap as possible. They be helpful adequate that I could figure out what I needed and cheaper as in good health. But the particular camera I required was out of stock & beforehand they got another contained by I found the kind I needed at Penneys on public sale for a few dollars less during Christmas dupe downs.

But I was manifestly impressed with their cs & scholarship. If I needed a more serious one I'd definitely step there first.

Btw SD is a Secure Digital memory card (usually cheapest on Ebay).

There are three cassette formats that are known as DV formats: MiniDV, DVCAM, and DVCPRO. All three utilize equal compression method called DV25 (which is sometimes of late referred to as DV compression). The same data is record onto each format, beside the difference between the formats being how the facts is physically recorded onto the cartridge Video compressed using DV25 does not have to be record onto tape; video files on a computer can be compressed into DV. Lastly DVDs are a form of storage media base on the compact disc. Originally called Digital Video Disc, and subsequent Digital Versatile Disc, "DVD" is now used near little sense of the original language. Essentially, a DVD is a larger, faster CD that can hold video, audio, and/or computer information. Physically similar to a CD, a single-layer, single-sided DVD have a maximum capacity of 4.7GB (about two hours of MPEG-2 video), roughly seven times the capacity of a CD-ROM (a majority CD holds around 650MB). A double-layer, double-sided DVD-ROM disk have thirty times the capacity of a CD-ROM (over 17GB). The DVD specification supports access rates of 600KBps to 1.3MBps.

Hope adjectives this tech stuff helps.
