Answers: I presume you are referring to a blank DVD disk? If so, your computer can be the media burner, but I hold found time and time again, that a desktop DVD player/burner, works MUCH faster than using all the codecs and rendering that take forever on your computer.
Take a look at some of those options. Many hold Mini USB inputs perfectly made for the newer video cameras. Even if it merely has composite video out and audio, you can 'burn' that hugely easily to a cheap video DVD amazingly easily and efficiently and not use up the resources of the computer for this simple task.
Now if you are chitchat about doing editing and cropping later forget all the above......
