You necessitate to use a firewire cable, if you have a cheaper or elder computer you might not have a firewire port on your computer, contained by this case buy this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

You will enjoy to open your computer to install this, but its not sturdy, it comes with directions.

Now after you own it hooked up open window movie maker (or anything program your using) and click capture video. Its on the top departed on windows movie architect.
Best to check where you told your laptop to store the file,,However, you can store vid files via a usb but wont bring anty sound... for that you involve a fire wire cable ... try E Bay or Amazon
You'll also inevitability to check whow many pins your firewire conection is on your cam corder and how frequent pins on you pc ...
It's also a well-mannered idea to set up a record on your pc previously you start to download anything & then detail your software to download to that particular record.. then you can expurgate it...

Hello.

First of adjectives, your camcorder came next to an USB cable. Basically this cable quite useless when come to importing video to your PC. Your camcorder come with i-LINK (Also specified as FIREWIRE or IEEE-1394 or MICRODV Connector). This is what you use to transfer your video to your PC.

(Note : The USB cable is for verbs your IMAGE capture surrounded by your Memorystick into your PC)

Secondly, your PC need also to hold FIREWIRE connector. Since this is a non standard port in most PC, you might entail to purchase a FIREWIRE PCI Card.(Newer mainboard may already have the port).

Once your camcorder and PC own the FireWire connector, just obtain the correct matching cable (4 pin to 4 pin, 4 pin to 6 pin - Normally your camcorder is using a 4 pin and your PC a 6pin)

OK. We enjoy the hardware issue resolved, next the software. Get yourself a GOOD videoEditing Software. My favorite is ULEAD VideoStudio Ver.11+. I intuitively have be using the software since ver.4 and found it very effortless and have loads of characteristic.

As a matter of nouns, you could also use SONY Vegas, Pinnacle Studio or Adobe Premier.

Windows XP also came near MovieMaker but lacks of professional features but adequate for a SIMPLE capture and editing. (The best feature for MovieMaker that it's FREE).

Hope this will lend a hand you.

Best Regards.
