Help on video cameras??
Answers: Depends on the features you want. One chip or three chip? Do you want to stifle your footage or just pop surrounded by a mini dvd and watch it?
For n00bs starting out who haven't thought going on for those things... I always suggest going near a MiniDV tape (NOT MINI DVD) camera from panasonic. The GS series is pretty reliable. Plus next to MiniDV, you have the prospect of capturing the video onto your computer in need all the desperate compression of mini dvd. You can then stifle, copy, and have fun beside your footage.
Avoid minidvd cameras. They limit what you can do near the footage. Many wont connect to a computer, and those that can have to compress the video footage so much that it looks similar to junk.
Also, avoid the Cannon 100 thru 800 series camcorders. I have them in my lab, and even next to moderate use by kiddos the tape eject fact wore out really fast.
