What is the best type of video camera for me (teenager)?

I want a video camera (not digital camera) for Christmas so I can take perfect quality video of my friends and me for fun.

Up until now, I hold been using my pattern cam and it's not working out so okay.

I'm compleatly clueless, so help is nice. lo
