MiniDV or DVD?

Im thinking of buying a new camcorder but I have need of some advice. This will be my first camcorder, so which is better? Also, Im not into uploading and editing video on the computer.I just want to transcription and be able to examine them on tv.

When you star something you want more and more, in my view you should buy a miniDV format, you never know and maybe in the future you could be a great editor.
