Camcorder nouns to PC?

I have basically got a Panasonic NV-GS60 camcorder and be wondering if I am able to use any brand of USB (and firewire cable) next to it. It can connect to a pc, it have both usb and firewire connections, but came beside no cables or any driver disc. (Bought brand up to date, cables nominated as optional - hence the camera is a low price!). I hold still got the usb that come from my previous camcorder which was a Sony, so would that work OK next to it?

Similar query around firewire - Panasonic charge around lb30 for the firewire cable but have see ones in supermarkets for cheaper.

Sorry if it sounds a daft interrogate, but am relatively new to totalling video to PCs!


Answers:    The only sensible road to transfer glorious quality video from your camcorder to your PC is via Firewire.

Do not buy that greatly expensive Panasonic cable - nip down to Curry's, Dixons, Jessops, Maplins, Argos etc. etc. and buy a medium priced one - I would not recommend the terrifically cheap ones (lb7-lb8) .
