Television cameras?
Answers: By 'moving erratically' I guess you mean why does the camera move adjectives over the place in TV drama shows? (ER is one of the worst offender, I think)
My feelings on this are that this is the brand new in-thing with TV directors - own the camera constantly moving all over the place to construct it look like the bystander is right here in the room beside us. What they don't realise is that it looks really dumb, and makes most folks watching the show feel seasick.
Its a bit resembling the way movies surrounded by the late-1960's constantly zoomed within and out, because zoom lenses had singular just be invented around that time, and it was the 'new thing'. Movies that do that very soon look old and dated, since one of the golden rules of film-making is 'dont ever hold the zoom move during a shot'.
The quicker these idiots stop moving the camera everywhere, the better. It isn't a 'new, in-thing' anymore, its a stupid cliche.
