Buying a camera or camcorder??

I am having a little one soon and so I want to have a camcorder but also I would approaching a camera. Should I just buy a camcorder and next get a seperate camera or should I draw from a camera with the camcorder on? I know that this uses up adjectives the memory and battery and doesnt end very long. Also Ive hear that the mic volume is crap on cameras and a camcorder would be much better. Help! I dont know what to get!

Answers:    Buy anything you can afford.

You should definately buy your still camera separate from your video camera as neither can do a awfully good profession at both.

I recommend a Canon Powershot for your still camera in the 5-7 Megapixel continuum, and any tape or DVD base video camera.

The tapes and DVDs will ultimate forever instead of a hard drive base solution that you'll have to subsidise up as an added step (that no new mommy have time for).

If you want the best video quality for the price, miniDV video is the best solution as it is not as compressed as MPEG-2 on DVD (compression ratios for the technology are 6:1 and 20:1 respectively)

Hope this helps.
