does it have a movie mode?....motive i was looking at the Canon PowerShot Pro Series S5 IS 8.0MP Digital Camera next to 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and it has a movie mode...and iam wondering does nikon hold it to....only the D40...which 1 is better

Answers:    These are 2 awfully different types of cameras. The Nikon is a DSLR camera (like the pros use) It has the competency to change lenses and allows user control of things approaching shutter speed and aperture. It has a larger research curve, no image stabilization, no internal cleaner for the sensor (for dust removal when you make over lenses), and no movie mode (most DSLR's don't). The Canon PowerShot Pro is a high downfall point and shoot camera with adjectives the bells and whistles. Check out dpreview.com for contained by depth reviews of lots of cameras. Good luck and have fun near whatever you choose.
For still photography buy a DSLR.

For video buy a video camera.
