My Kodak digital v610 camera is not registering bedside light, it is worn-out properly. Help!?

My digital camera is not registering light at adjectives. When I take a picture everything seem to be working fine except for it is black and nothing appears on the peak. I have checked the wishy-washy meter and again it is not picking up any light what-so-ever.
: ( If someone could help out me that would be great. I'd rather not bring it in to a shop. Thanks.
