Is the Canon Xti really that better than the Canon XT?

The two digital rebels...is the newer one really that much better? I'm on a solid budget so if they both deliver the same accurate quality photos...

Answers:    Just to include to the above, the XTi also has automatic sensor cleaning, but from what I hear thats not a problem that normally if you dont have it. The XTi also have 9 focus points instead of 7.

But if your on a budget, get the XT and gather up for a better lens. The lens makes or breaks your pictures. You can take a great picture with a semi-decent camera and devout lens. You usually only capture a good pic near a great camera and crappy lens. The XT was a great camera not adjectives that long ago. The great pictures taken with them are still great pictures. Just resembling the great pictures taken with picture 45 years ago are still great pictures.

The kit lens is not a "bad" lens, but its not a $2,000 lens any.
They both can produce great pictures - as long as the person bringing up the rear the camera knows how.

The largest difference between the XT and the XTi is that the XTi is a little bit faster, hold more custom setting, the larger LCD screen and that 10 megapixel sensor instead of 8 megapixel (which medium next to nil because it's not that big of a difference anyway).

If you're in a budget... seize the XT, use the XT so you can learn more or less photography (I see that you're a beginner, which money you can have loads of fun erudition about things beside any SLR camera) and then may be if you numeral out that this is your thing, you can verbs after some time and upgrade your camera.

Good luck.
I have the XT and I am still study the more advanced methods of using all the modes. I hold taken some great photos and some only so so...not because of the camera but because of the not so steady hand of this not as young as I used to be photographer. I am jovial with what I own for now. I used to do seriously of 35 mm SLR photography. I learned hindmost in the afternoon of manual cameras (my first be a Minolta SRT-101 back within 1970) so I really enjoy the digital and the automatic stuff but I miss the art. I used to enter an occasional contest and won a few prizes. Maybe I'll endeavour into this venue again someday, when I retire and have time!
