A correct digital camera?

I had a four year out-of-date fuji 4.1 pixel that was awesome. It broke and I go in and bought a Panasonic Limux 8.1 pixel and it took horrible pictures. It ruined my time off photos. Took it back and get a Cannon SC850 and 2 weeks after we purchased the lens broke while on vacation...shift figure.

Now what? I would try Sony but we bought so oodles memory cards that won't fit a sony camera. We are thinking about a Kodak....anyone next to experience?

Answers:    Get something with a big sensor (1/1.7") instead of a small one (1/2.5"). I've be happy near the Fujifilm Finepix F10.
I like Nikons myself, but I'd recommend that you check out Consumer Reports and see what they own to say. You could also check out an online store that does customer ranking and reviews similar to Circuit City or Amazon.
