Any view on the canon speedlite 430 EX?

im looking to buy an external flash but dont know where to start... for a 400d

Answers:    It isn't the cheapest flash out, but if you're feeling like to pay for it, it's resourcefully worth the money.
I'm using one in conjunction near a 580 EX, and it's surprised me. Full flash head articulation, 0-180 degree laterally and 0-90 degrees vertically, so you can aim it adjectives about for bounce flash, or latter on for remote triggering. While not as powerful as the 580, I've never been wanting for power near the 430. Like the 580, it has a zoom skipper. When you set zoom mode to auto on the flash, a lens element within the flash head will tighten or expand the flash beam as you alter the focal length of your lens.

Later on if you want to take home a multiple flash setup, the 430 EX can act as a slave flash triggered by a 580 EX, ST-E2 transmitter or the Canon macro flashes.
