Answers:    Assuming that you mean the 40D (D40 is a Nikon designation), keep under surveillance and see what happens when the 450D is on the open market for a month or two. It's due out pretty soon and Canon might need to drop the 40D price to hold buyers interested in their superior line. Pure speculation...
Nay, is lately came out, DSLR don't drop price much, I don`t know you will short term onsales but won't be any big drop similar to point and shoot. 40D might drop when Nikon coming out another mid range DSLR soon. to replace D80.
