Sony cyber shot + iMovie HD on a mac?

When ever I upload my videos from my Camera and try to drag and drop them from iPhoto to iMovie HD it other takes out the audio

and I've gone surrounded by to the settings where it say filter out audio and I said no to that but it still does the same entity

I also went to the mac Genius point at the store and the guy said I needed to put the video in a different format.

but I don't know what format or how to do it

(the camera is the DSC-W50 series)

You could change the video format to dv using MPEG Streamclip.
