I have an SLR-like camera and tried several times to take a good pic. They didn't turn out as economically as I'd like. Is it possile to acquire the details on the moon surface and the clarity of the moon with a camera similar to mine? thanks.
Answers: Do not use auto exposure
Use a long lens (400mm or longer)
Shoot using the sunny 16 rule (1/ISO at f/16) and after stop down one stop.
For shooting moonscapes (earth lit by moonlight) can take exposures up to 30 second
It depends, if your camera has terrifically good zoom it should work, but usually compact digital cameras cant zoom surrounded by that far of distances to see the surface of the moon. Also maybe you might know how to hook your camera up to a telescope, I have hear of people doing that also. Hope this help.
