What are the probability of have a unsound digital camera AND not working software AND a imprecise SD card?

I bought my MIL a digital camera for Christmas. The software won't install on her computer, but anything else she tries will. It doesn't give her an error message, but instead doesn't even detect that anything is near. Also, when trying to take a picture, it have told her that the memory card needs to be formatted. We've formatted it once, which delete all her pictures and next it worked again, but it's already done it a second time. This second time around, it also deleted the pictures on the internal memory, not simply the card. I am soooo confused here... is it the camera itself that is defective or is it the memory card? Also, is the software disk faulty also? Is it possible to hold a faulty camera AND software? I'm not sure what I should do.

Answers:    l would check and see if the software is compatible to the computer.... it wont reconize it if it isnt. as for the memory card it should be formatted the first time and really wont inevitability it much after that. this problem just sounds similar to an inexperinced user.... read the manual for the camera and I don`t know that FAQ section....if your problem persits beckon the camera company for help.
just about 47-1 odds that adjectives three are bad at once.
