Higher End Point & Shoot For Outdoor Action Shots?

I have a 2.5 year ancient Vivitar (ha ha, yes...) digital camera that's starting to fail me. While I am intrigued by them, I don't have a feeling like I'd bring a dSLR along next to me as much due to the size, so I'm looking for a higher completion point and shoot or dSLR-like camera. I don't take a ton of indoor shots, mostly outdoor endeavour shots of my dogs doing activities approaching agility, so I need something that will offer me nice action shots, emblem stabilization, and a nice optical zoom (10x+). I've heard recommendation for the following brands, though I personally prefer Nikon as a brand:

-Sony Cyber Shot DSC-H9
-Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18

Any to attach or any further recommendations?

Answers:    Canon S5 is a piece of crap. try the panasonic lumix Dmc-fz50. great camera and the hullabaloo people agree about...forget roughly speaking the panny having pandemonium problems. They all enjoy noise issuses and if they speak the canon is better...Take a look at the artificial quality of the colors the s5 puts out compared to the panny. the panny puts out true to existence colors.
canon s5 would be good
12x zoom
panasonic have too much noise
H9 is over priced
