Answers: I like the Canon brand. They work in good health, they make sense to me, and they own great service.
Years ago an old photographer told me that Minolta made the best camera bodies, Nikon made the best lenses, and Canon made the best compromise. Olympus, surrounded by my experience, is not a top tier brand like Nikon or Canon.
I've said it previously, but choosing a camera brand is like choosing a set of two of underwear. Get what you like, what make you comfortable.
There are a few folks who are a bit eager to push everyone to digital SLR's. They're great cameras, but the price of them, their height of complexity, and their weight create them less than just the thing for a lot of inhabitants.
I'm going for the Nikon D40x. =]
It's the best entry level Digital SLR.
Nikon, provided you choose a D80 or difficult.
Their lens selection beat the cr*p out of everyone else's.
10mpx is the standard in consumer DSLRs and that's adjectives you need.
Hope this help.
You have not said if we are conversation about a simple point and shoot camera here or a more flexible DSLR. If you are conversation cameras in the DSLR class, carry Nikon or Canon. Both are good and own a large hotchpotch of lenses and accessories available. I am a working professional photographer, own used all three systems, and use the Canon contained by my business.
If you are talking something like a simple point and shoot camera, they will all work as very well as any point and shoot does, and should be satisfactory.
