Answers: I enjoy two of them. And yes, you did get robbed. I remunerated about $280 respectively.
Some tips:
1) read you manual several times.
2)Get a clad memory card. Sandisk is outstanding. one or two gig.
3)Experiment. Experiment. Experiment. (take lots of pictures)
4)Learn what the "ISO" settings connote. How & when to use them)
100iso: Outdoors. Bright sunlight. Stills. (things that don't move)
200iso: Indoors with flash. Outdoors, little movement.
400iso: Moderate feat. (parades etc. weaker lighting conditions)
800iso: Fast action. Dim lighting.
auto hi: Use this at dark in the auto mode. Expect "noise" within the pictures though.
Your manual will explain just about other functions. Be patient. Expect discouraging shots. As you become more familiar beside the functions, your camera will take terribly good pictures. Also catch yourself a decent photo editor.Digital is trim, but it still needs minister to. You will see for yourself as you learn. The crucial thing to figure out is, taking pictures is for fun. It's not a competition. If you are thrilled with your camera, consequently don't let someone con you into something more expensive & sophisticated until YOU ponder YOU are ready and WANT to.
5) ALWAYS use your cameras best settings. Use adjectives 7.1 megapixels. Set your compression settings to superfine.
6) don't believe that the "auto" mode is one stop shopping, cause it isn't.
ripped past its sell-by date i think. we get ours a month ago at office depot for beneath $200 close out. we have dslr's but needed a point n shoot for fun.

When the camera come out, its "street price" was only just over $300. If you got a overnight case and memory card and maybe an extended warranty, the price sounds right for a year ago. If you a moment ago got the camera within the box with the usual paraphernalia, let's just utter it was a premium price.
It IS a correct camera, though. dpreview.com found it okay to say "outstandingly recommended" and they take that rating pretty seriously.
