What is the best camera to use within a gym setting?

Answers:    In manual I close to f/8 at .250 (shutter speed) or faster it just depends upon the sport, ISO setting 400 or try a Shutter priority mode and a short time ago set a fast shutter-speed and tolerate the camera pick the Aperture.
Any Nikon or Canon DSLR will do ... what you need is a rapid lens. Something f/2.8 or faster.
Any camera. I love my sony powershot w-55 It has everything and its lone $150 i got a extra memory card beside that. i love it!!
in an indoor gym setting, f8 at .250 is probably not adequate, lighting in gyms is not that fitting you will need to shoot at around f8 .125 to gain enough lighting in. I've tried it.

If you are looking to attain a digital, make sure it have some sort of low light setting. You will probably hold to to place it on a surface instead of holding it to avoid blur. Pretty much any modern digital camera will work well, they're adjectives pretty much the same in our time.
Why play guessing games when my trusty FotoSharp (fotosharp.com) "Day & Night Exposure Guide" is available?

Scene # 10 "School stages/auditorium"

At ISO 800

f2 @ 1/60 sec.
f2.8 @ 1/30 sec.
f4 @ 1/15 sec.

At ISO 1600

f2 @ 1/125 sec.
f2.8 @ 1/60 sec.
f4 @ 1/30 sec.

If your situation is brighter, as in Scene # 8 "Indoor sports, circus - floodlit"

At ISO 800

f2 @ 1/250 sec.
f2.8 @ 1/125 sec.
f4 @ 1/60 sec.

At ISO 1600

f2 @ 1/500 sec.
f2.8 @ 1/250 sec.
f4 @ 1/125 sec.

As you can see, you have need of a camera that allows you to use Manual Mode. A "fast" lens also helps. The camera is only just a dumb box. Its meter wants everything its pointed at to be 18% gray - the midtone attraction in an average scene. If it can't catch that value (using the largest aperture* and slowest shutter speed) it purely shuts down. The photographer has to use his/her mind to feel for the camera.

Its possible that you could leave your camera within Program Mode, letting it set aperture and shutter, and set the ISO to 1600 and maybe gain some acceptable results.

* Remember, the largest aperture is the smallest number, i.e., f2 is larger than f2.8 which is larger than f4, etc.
