What is the difference between...?

I'm debating on purchasing a digital camera (upgrading from what I have now). What's the difference between a Canon SLR and an XTi?? I'm NOT a professional photographer, but I'm an avid cameraman @ nightclub & special events. Please help me cause the right choice-- price range between $400-650...

Answers:    The XTi is a digital SLR or DSLR, whereas the designation SLR refers to a film SLR.

Single Lens Relfex, the category of camera that you can change lenses on and swing shutter speed and aperture manually.

For nightclubs you will want a lens next to a wide aperture (lower f-stop number = larger aperture). Image Stabilization couldnt hurt any (IS).
An XTi IS an SLR...meaning Single Lens Reflex, what you see through the viewfinder is what the lens see. An XTi is a good choice, room to grow and devout pix to start with.
