Has anyone ever bought anything at www.86photovideo.com? Their prices are unbelievably low. Are they a scam?
Answers: A lot of unbelievably low priced on-line camera stores make their money by selling grey open market equipment in piecemeal trend.
Grey market equipment is equipment to be exact sold outside it's regular market and doesn't take a standard warranty. In the U.S. that would mean a camera intended for sale surrounded by, say, Europe. It's cheaper, but if it wants repair, you will have to transport it back to whom ever you bought it from because the manufacturer's warranty is blankness because it's grey market.
The other entry they some of these companies do is sell you singular part of the ingenious kit. For instance, they may put on the market you the camera, but no battery charger, and consequently grossly overcharge for the battery and charger as a separate Dutch auction. You could always get to a third party hawker to get the freestyle and charger, but by doing so, you would void anything warranty you did manage to seize from the orignial seller.
Do an on-line turn out for the company and see what other people own to say in the order of them. If a camera retails for $1,500 it's reasonable to see it sold for $1,200. A $1,500 camera selling for beneath $1,000 should tell you that something may be wrong.
In the final analysis it's a thing of caveat emptor -- let the buyer beware. Ultimately, you are responsible for the purchases you receive.
They could be a scam.
Call them and see if the cameras are grey market or not and if they come beside all the trappings that the camera manufacture say are supposed to be included.
Check out their About page, they misspelled Professional!
Incredible.
They are rated 1.58 out of 10 from 19 reviewers at resellerratings.com. I would stay away from them. Usually online when prices come across too good to be true they are scam.
