Why does my digital camera turn rotten after taking just a few photos?

I received a Kodak Easyshare C875 digital camera for Christmas last year, have worked fine up till a few days ago. I put in fresh hot batteries and the camera insists on shutting itself down single after 10 photos (tops). I used to be able to clutch hundreds of pictures without shifting the batteries! I own tried rechargable & non-rechargable batteries as okay as a variety of different brands. I simply use my camera once a month, but when I use it, I take a ton of pictures.

I own no idea what cause this to happen! I tried resetting my camera; no luck. It is no longer below the warrantly because it is just a few days long-gone a year! Please help me!

Answers:    Does your camera own a setting for auto-power off after a specific time? I enjoy a totally different camera (Canon Digital Rebel XT) and it has a setting for how long it stays on beside no activity. The failure to pay setting was pretty short, resembling 2 minutes, but I was competent to set it for a longer period. If your camera have this, check in your brochure to find out how to change it.
Mine does duplicate thing. I own the same camera. My guess is the cameras are defect or they are naturally supposed to turn bad.
