Lens concept anyone? (for the Canon EOS Rebel Xti)?

So I had question on here before going on for my first dslr camera. I am almost positive now that I am going to stir with The Canon EOS Rebel Xti due to the certainty that it is affordable and a great beginnger pro camera. With that, I honestly have no intentions of buying the tools lens when purchasing but would rather ask some opinion from you guys on what lens or lenses I should purchase or look into. I will mostly be shooting wildlife (horses will be my main subject) I would also similar to something that will be good for portrait shots along next to the misc stuff that I may also do but those are the main two.

Here is the block, I only own between $300-400 to spend. Now this could be on one that will be great all around for me or on two. I definably want a telephoto for the wildlife. Maybe also a all-embracing angle or small zoom lens for the portraits. Or a one in adjectives.

One lens that I'm looking at Im almost want to buy. Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III the price may be low but I know a lot who love it

Answers:    The $300-400 price collection isn't that much. the kit lens is an excellent lens for it's price. I would recommend that.

You may also want to try the 50mm f1.8. "The nifty fifty" you can mark this lens new for roughly speaking $70. This is an excellent lens for potraits, and a very rapid prime lense. Here is a link:

The 75-300mm lens is an average at best zoom lens. Canon a moment ago came out next to a new 70-300mm beside "IS" (image stabilization) that you would benefit more from. Here is that link:

The 70-300mm is $100 more that you are looking to spend but doll quality between the two zoom there is a big difference.

My guidance. Buy the camera with the tools lens and the 50mm and start shooting. Save and buy the new 70-300mm near IS, you won't be disappointed and you won't find yourself having to buy another lens because your not getting the upright quality pics near the 75-300mm.
no clue what your talking more or less
