Answers: It's true that it's difficult to correctly expose both light and cloudy areas on a high contrast photo with a single shot.
What you can do though is adjust the figure in photoshop using layer and masks.
Create 2 layer by duplicating the background figure layer.
With the first echelon, quick covering off the street light areas (sky) then adjust the exposure (brightness/contrast)of the house until you are pleased with the results.
Then select your duplicate veil and perform an invert screening on it.... this will then allow you to correctly adjust the exposure/contrast and brightness for everything you didn't adjust within the first image.
Once you hold adjusted both layer you'll need to blend the layer using screen, and finally flatten the statue and save it.
There are other touches you can give during the process for a little more finesse but this is the chief way to "correctly expose" a wide open contrast image using photoshop...
It may nouns tricky but once you've performed it a few times it's a piece of cake!
Looks close to you're photographing with abundantly of contrast,,dark courtyard and bright sky...either the sky will be over-exposed or the patio will be under-exposed..hard to correctly expose both contained by the same picture...
