Is it possible to use my panasonic dmc fz8 digital camera as a webcam and if so how?! It's on a mac as ably
Answers: i have that camera and I don't deduce you can. It's not in the brochure, so unless there's some way to trick it for use as a webcam, you're out of luck.
Now agree to me see if I have this right. You want to use a $350, SLR-like digital camera near a 7.4MP sensor the way you would near a $40 0.3MP webcam?
Webcams are designed and built to produce very low point images that can be streamed over the Internet at 15fps. Have you ever tried to upload one of your files (not 15) that are nearly 4MP respectively to a friend via email. It takes a long, long time.
Spend the money and achieve a nice cheap webcam. It will fit on your monitor better too.
No. Just read the specs and find no webcam feature on this cam.
I must give, that as a photographer I would not use this kind of camera as a webcam.... BUT here are situations were you would close to this.
For example, I adapted a C8080 Olympus for streaming, that is resembling us$150 more than your Panasonic, and I use it for 2 main purposes:
a- I resembling to photograph night scene in almost total dimness. This camera is so amazing for that, that I had to create a join between the cam and my Sony Micro PC portable, so I record animal behavior while sleeping, and a couple of days following I am ready to acquire wonderful location and shoot scenes base on what my cam has record.
b- I use it also as my auto shooter witness: Something comes into scene, a pulse from a mp4 with cam activate the sentinel app in my cam /a adjectives household application that come with several cheap webcams, used for recording movements and entry/ adjectives t does is sending a pulse train to a n actuator for the camera[ s remote control.. and Voila! I get an automatic sequence shoot.
c- .. and yes.. sometimes i would resembling my digital cams had a webcam function, since sometimes it is too cumbersome to pass gadgets for anything... you know~!
Finally, I' d approaching to recommend to you a webcam, I like profoundly, its the Starcam 370i, a $30 piece with a unbelievably very accurate nite infrared sensor that really works....it has a flexible collar and does 1 mpix acceptable photos...
