Answers: You're probably holding the camera too close to you and using the wide-angle lens setting. That distorts. Either use a tripod and the self-timer feature, or enjoy a friend take your picture. Use the telephoto setting, from farther away. Don't stand near your shoulders squared to the camera. Turn your body away slightly, and then look towards the camera. See if that get you better results.
You'll need to be shot near a tele-photo lens from far away.
