I own a sony dsc h5 i want to know what the best settings are for taking photos of the northern lights?

Answers:    Just guessing here.
Manual mode, F7 or 8, Spot metering, manual focus set to infinity. Choose the shutter speed to copy 0 or -3 EV. WB, change the settings until you draw from the color you want. And a tripod.
I'm no expert, but just from key photography I've learned not long, you want an aperture very small, similar to an f/22 or close to it. Because you are focusing to infinity. That means you stipulation a very long shutter speed. As long as you can win it.

You'll need a tri pod also.
